Sintermeertencollege is a catholic school that offers four levels of education: gymnasium, pre-university education, higher general secondary education and lower general secondary education.
Sintermeertencollege wants to offer a climate in which the pupils feel at home and in which they can develop to a level of independence which enables them to face their next level of education with confidence. Classes are provided in a modern building with excellent facilities.
Sintermeertencollege attaches great value to the supervision of students. In their first year at school there are two mentors per class, so that children receive adequate attention. Pupils with learning difficulties or dyslexia are supervised by trained teachers. For higher grade pupils the dean's office provides information about further training and gives students and their mentors the necessary information to find out which future course best fits the student.
Sintermeertencollege has a reputation of being a school where education is supported by ICT. ‘It’s Learning’ provides students with an excellent environment to contact not only teachers and fellow students, but also students they got to know during national and international projects.
Sintermeertencollege is one of only twenty Dutch ELOS schools, which means that these schools offer internationally oriented, high quality teaching. ELOS starts in first grade and in third grade the pupils take
extra language classes in either French, German or English which can get them worldwide recognized language certificates. The reason why school gives its pupils the opportunity to take these extra language courses is that a ‘Goethe’, ‘Delf’ or ‘Cambridge’ certificate enhances the pupils’ chances on the labour market. These certificates also make it a lot easier for students to get accepted at universities abroad.
In 2004 Sintermeertencollege was the first Dutch school to be certified as a ‘sport active ‘school’: a quality mark for schools that meet a great many criteria. A ‘sport active school’ is constantly busy optimizing physical exercise and extracurricular activities.
